Look at these Beauties!

-- Eight Hand-Tuned Calfskin Timpani --

These drums are set up for the J.C.C.Fischer piece for 8 Timpani & Baroque orchestra. In order to reach all of the drums and to be able to strike them properly, I arranged them with a semi-circle of 6 drums (tuned to A - B -C -D -E -F) and the low Gdrum outside on the left, high G on the right.
Having the drums in this order gives the player a sense of a kind of "keyboard". The work is mainly in C Major, so having the Dominate tones in similar locations is appropriate. Also, having the G's at a higher level helped in the sticking.

This view shows the high G drum's location.
